Frazetta's Costumes in East Stroudsburg is fielding a wave of shoppers looking for the right Halloween outfit before Saturday, Oct. 31.
Owner Bill Frazetta told WNEP that some customers start browsing during the summer, but business picks up in October. This year, with Halloween landing on a Saturday, the Monroe County store expects a wave of last-minute shoppers who have a full weekend to celebrate.
Ghostface leads the pack. Frazetta said the store carries about 30 to 40 different Ghostface designs, and the character remains one of the most requested looks. Vampires and Renaissance-themed costumes are also popular choices this season, he said.
The appeal at Frazetta's goes beyond off-the-rack options. Frazetta told 28/22 News that customers often change direction once they see what the store can put together.
"When people come in for a specific item, sometimes they end up going in a different direction because we have so many different ways that we can piece something together … we have so many different ways we could change it around so you don't look like somebody else at the party," Frazetta said.
Kara Rosado of East Stroudsburg told WNEP she and her best friend are assembling a Frog and Toad costume piece by piece at the shop. Shoppers like Rosado are mixing tops, accessories and other items to build something unique rather than buying a single packaged costume.
The Saturday timing gives families and partygoers more flexibility. Trick-or-treating, costume parties and community events all land on the same weekend, and costume shops in the area are preparing for a busy final stretch before the holiday, according to 28/22 News.
