Geisinger Health Plan started accepting enrollments for its 2027 Marketplace insurance plans on Sunday, Nov. 1.
The Open Enrollment Period (OEP) runs through Friday, Jan. 15, according to a Geisinger news release. During that window, individuals and families can sign up for a new health plan or update their current coverage for the coming year.
The Marketplace plans are available to individuals ages 19 to 64 who do not have access to coverage through an employer or family member, the release stated.
Roger van Baaren, chief growth officer at Geisinger Health Plan, said the plans are aimed at people who are self-employed, between jobs or otherwise without employer-sponsored insurance.
Geisinger Health Plan offers Marketplace plans at several price points, according to the release. Options range from lower-premium, higher-deductible plans for people who use health care less often to plans with lower out-of-pocket costs for those who expect regular doctor visits, specialty care or prescription medications.
Members who live outside Geisinger Health Plan's primary service area have access to a network that includes more than 120 hospitals. That network includes Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Johns Hopkins Hospital, Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
Geisinger, a nonprofit system headquartered in Danville, Pa., serves 1.2 million people across central and northeastern Pennsylvania. Geisinger Health Plan has more than 509,000 enrollees in commercial and government plans, according to the organization. In 2024, Geisinger joined Risant Health, a nonprofit created to expand value-based care nationally.
